SANTA YNEZ, Calif. – The Santa Ynez Tribal Health Clinic is hosting its third annual “Give Kids A Smile” event featuring free dental exams, cleanings and more from 8 am to 5 pm on Feb. 2 at 90 Via Juana Lane in Santa Ynez.

The Give Kids A Smile annual event provides children between the ages of 1-12 with a free comprehensive oral examination regardless of family income or insurance status.

Participants are required to pre-register for the event by calling the clinic at 805-688-7070.

The event is staffed by the health clinic’s dentists, registered dental assistants and dental hygienists.

Dr. Mike Savidan, Dental Director for the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, said, “Our dental department looks forward to this event every year because it gives us an opportunity to shine a light on the importance of pediatric oral health and to hopefully make a positive and lasting impact on our young patients.”

Last year’s program provided nearly $10,000 worth of dental services to 27 children at no cost to their families.

The Santa Ynez Tribal Health Clinic is a not-for-profit organization subject to Federally Qualified Health Center requirements and receives funding through various grants, including as a senior contractor status grant recipient with the Indian Health Service and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
