We researched some of the most nutritious ingredients and went to nutritionists to get their takes on healthy eating. “Food is an intimate topic and what’s nutritious for one person might not be the same for another person, and that’s perfectly ok,” said Tessa Nguyen, chef and registered dietitian. “When and if you can, eating a diverse array of those foods is important to not only benefit from a variety of nutrients, but also enjoy the tastes, textures, aromas, and satisfaction that can come with eating food.” Beyond the nutritional profiles, Nguyen recommends thinking about the other things we gain from food such as community, tradition, and memories.
This is by no means a comprehensive list, as all foods offer different nutrients and benefits. But, if you’re looking for some nutrient-dense ingredients to add to your shopping list, this is a good place to start.
